Diaper EZ is available in four blends. Baby Berry Is our strongest blend we recommend it for ages 0 months - 4 years. The fathers rated this one as their favorite and it is very popular in daycares it is our best seller. Baby Berry is named after a child who will almost remain nameless. His parents said that he had a uniquely powerful odor. They were right! We needed a formulation that could handle Baby Berry and after several months of testing we found the right formulation, much to his parents delight!. This is how we would describe Baby Berry. Baby Berry has under tones of berries, herbs and flowers to name a few. It is pleasant but starts out strong just like the real Baby Berry. Over the course of an hour or so it mellows to a clean deep aroma.

I’ve tried almost everything else from gel products to timed sprayers. My diaper days are over. However, I have two dogs and we just moved to a place where our garbage receptacle has to stay in the garage until garbage day. We use a Diaper Champ for our doggie waste bags which helps with the odor. But with the hot weather, there is an odor in the garage between the garbage receptacle and the Diaper Champ.

I’ve tried everything else from gel products to timed sprayers. Diaper EZ is the only product that eliminates the odor.

No more smell. This product is truly amazing. I had tried those scented bags for the diapers and they didn’t quite do the job, with this product I don’t need those bags anymore.

Review date : 2007-01-24
It is not often that a product is better than advertised…my sons room was not a place to stay or play in…we use the diaper champ and it still needed help….now we can go in the room even after a bad diaper!….One happy Father!

Piano Lesson Recital Party Idea Winter Holiday Open House

Posted by admin on March 31, 2009

Children in piano lessons need opportunities to perform, but all of these opportunities don?t need to involve a formal recital in a rented hall on a 9 foot Steinway. Piano recital parties can be rather spontaneous events that allow children to enjoy sharing their music with other kids and their family and friends in a relaxed way. Here?s a great piano party idea that kids and their families always enjoy. If you?re a parent, share this idea with your child?s piano teacher and offer to be a helper at this fun event.

Winter Holiday Open House ? The Winter Holiday Open House is a fun, outdoor piano event. In my piano studio the music is amplified outdoors where family and friends gather for Cookies and Cider while they listen to as many student performances as they have time for. This recital is an open house. That means, for example, it is open to students and their families between certain hours. I generally hold my piano studio?s Winter Holiday Open House on a Sunday between 12:30 and 2:30. At that time the other offices around my studio are closed and there is plenty of parking available.

Since I have a nice lawn next to our building, I set up canopy tents with tables for refreshments and rent plenty of chairs so folks can stay as long as they wish and be comfortable. The students come into the studio to play Christmas Music as well as other pieces they have selected to play for this event.

To make this event even more fun for kids I set up a craft table with volunteers to help students and their friends make a Christmas Ornament. This makes a nice memory for kids to take home with and hang on their Christmas tree as a reminder of their Winter Holiday Recital Party. Each year they make a new ornament. I also hold a drawing for a couple of cute and cuddly stuffed animals. Parents fill out a survey to let me know how their children?s lessons are going from their perspective and by doing so they enter their student in the drawing. Year after year parents have told me how much they enjoy this ?friendly social.?

Piano Lessons Creating A Practice Environment For Beginners

Posted by admin on March 30, 2009

Piano students can improve their progress by making improvements to their practice environment. Making some simple changes to the practice environment can help students learn more, especially young beginning students. Too often students compare themselves to experts they see on television and their teacher without considering what went on behind the scenes to make that happen. Parents can help their beginner gain a more realistic perspective about what needs to go on behind the scenes at home so that students make the progress they want to make and feel good about their lessons.

The practice environment will do one of two things.

1. It will detract from learning; or

2. It will support learning.

Make a list of things in the environment that support learning. Make another list of things in the environment that create distractions. Since kids tend to self-distract a lot, the environment needs to be as helpful as possible. Here are ten examples of factors that detract from the learning environment. You can probably think of more.

Practice Environment Distractions

1. No routine practice time established.

2. Busy running errands with parents so no time is left for practice.

3. Television is on in the piano practice room.

4. Friends coming to play at practice time.

5. Eating snacks at the piano during practice.

6. Music books scattered around the floor, they get lost or ?misplaced.?

7. Pets or younger siblings demand student?s attention.

8. No routine practice time established.

9. Busy running errands with parents leaving no time left for practice.

10. Keyboard is moved to student?s bedroom where they isolated during practice.

Supportive Practice Environment

Review Of Honey We’re Killing The Kids!

Posted by admin on March 29, 2009

Honey, We’re Killing the Kids is a nutrition and healthy living reality show that premiered in the United States on The Learning Channel (TLC) in 2006. The show originated in the UK as a BBC healthy living series. The US installment is a one hour weekly series hosted by Dr. Lisa Hark.

The show, intended to be an intervention — or well executed wake up call - to American families who lead a predominantly unhealthy lifestyle, has been criticized for using extreme computer generated images of what the children will look like if their lifestyle is not immediately altered by their parents. The families who are featured on the show have as least two children who range in age from toddler through teenager. One, if not all, of the family members are overweight or obese and usually eat fast or processed foods and log in far more television, computer and video game hours than any time spent exercising.

By the time we first meet the parents of the family being featured in the episode, the children have already met with doctors to assess their overall health, including food intake and lifestyle habits. The parents join nutritionist Lisa Hark to view life-size computer generated images that show what each of their children will look like by the age of 40 if their eating and lifestyle does not change. The images usually startle the parents; the pictures show extremely overweight, unhealthy and unkempt individuals who truly present a worst-case scenario. Critics of the show claim that these images are very extreme, perpetuating the myth that all overweight people are dirty, sloppy and unhappy people. The show is guilty of adding body piercings, unruly facial hair and mullets on people who otherwise might not wear them

However, the wake up call is enough to get a commitment from the parents, who thus embark on a month long health improvement plan, featuring a radical change in diet and a bevy of exercise and family outings that replace the hours once spent in front of the TV. The success of the program varies from family to family and the stress of the changes usually falls upon the mother who is accountable for learning how to make tofu attractive to her children. Many times the father puts up as much a fuss as the kids. The mothers are trying to eat healthy and quit smoking themselves and often crack under the pressure of too many changes at once.

At the end of each episode, once weight changes and lifestyle changes are noted, the computer generates a new set of pictures - usually showing not only a thinner 40 year old, but one in snappy professional clothes bearing an overall clean cut, meticulous and happy presence.

The show allows us one more peek into the family’s life. The cameras visit them one month after the show stops filming. Most of the families are filmed smiling and happy, riding together on new bikes, and each appears to have lost at least ten pounds. Only one family during Honey?s first season refused to be filmed for the follow up; we can surmise their bikes are gathering dust in the garage.

Customer Reviews

Review date : 2008-06-22
These are great, come a sturdy wooden box and it a great big kid little kid sharing "show me" toy.

Review date : 2008-06-15
I got these for my niece, she’s nearly 6 and loved them. She is learning to read now and it was great to see her sounding out names and putting the letters together to spell them on the necklaces. It’s evident that she’ll be playing with these for a while as she discovers that you could actually load up the strings instead of having only a couple of beads in the middle. That said: you might want to get some extra beading string right off the bat; we were out in a very short time with lots of beads left in the box. The beads are sturdy, cute and easy to put on the strings. The box has a nice lid and keeps everything organized and easy to put away.

Review date : 2008-01-16
Great starter beading for young ones. Much more durable then the plastic ones and the strings with the covered ends make it easier on Mommy!

Review date : 2008-01-14
The beads are just the right size for little hands, the box is great for storing the beads and string, and there is friction between the wood beads and the round-shoelace-type string so the beads stay on the string. This is a great toy. The box is less than an inch high so it is friendly to those of us with small homes.

I bought this one for my nephew. When I told my kids, they protested because they mistakenly thought that I had given theirs away.

Only problem: It is slightly tricky to get everything back in the box so that it closes. It is not too bad though.

Overall - I highly recommend this toy. I plan to keep it for my grandkids when my kids are done with it.

Review date : 2007-12-29
I purchased this to go along with Melissa And Doug Decorate Your Own Jewelry Box….and, it is wonderful. Allows creativity and pride in making something that is their very own! So cute, a lot of variety and durable. Melissa and Doug products are so long lasting and promote individuality and creativity.

Helping Your Child Taking Piano Lessons Learn To Practice

Posted by admin on March 27, 2009

Are you the parent of a young piano student? Do you find that getting your child to pracice is kind of a pain. Well, you might find this hard to believe, but encouraging your child taking piano lessons to practice doesn?t have to be a struggle. Here are five things you can do that really make a difference.

1. Establish a routine practice time. This will help to build the practice habit. Consistency is important so make sure you do your part by being home at that time so your child can practice.

2. Start with a relatively short practice time such as ten minutes a day. It is better to practice daily than to skip many days and only practice right before the next lesson. This may result in a happy piano teacher, but over the long run your child will learn more through consistent effort throughout the week. Compare this to cramming for a test the day before or building a solid base of long-term knowledge you can continue to build on over time.

3. As your child gains more piano knowledge and playing ability gradually stretch the practice time to 15 to 20 minutes, then 25 to 30 minutes as the difficulty of their playing assignments increases.

4. Be sure that you get your child to their weekly piano lessons. This is very important for consistent practice. When students skip their lessons hey get the impression that piano lessons are not very important and their commitment to practice diminishes. Plus the encouragement and direction students receive from their piano teacher each week sets a goal for students to achieve over the next week.

5. Be sure your child comes to their piano lessons with all their music books. When students come to lessons without their books, piano teachers cannot follow through on important foundational skills that young students need to know to learn new pieces of music. When students have the basics they are more confident and thus more likely to practice at home. Students who frequently come to lessons without their books are confused about what to do at home, and are much less likely to practice.

It takes for children time to learn how to apply themselves to their lessons. When parents do what they can do, however, this process progresses a lot more smoothly for kids. When young students know what the piano expectations are and have the commitment of their parents, it is easier for them to commit to regular practice. So, parents, now that you know how easy it is to help your child learn to practice, don’t forget to do it!
